Traffic incidents down to 37 cases in 2025, from 75 cases in 2024

- Gulf News Report

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Police have reported strong results after expanding The truck-movement restrictions on Emirates Road.

The rule, introduced on January 1, 2025, limits truck traffic particularly between Al Awir Road and the Sharjah border from 5:30pm to 8pm. It is part of a wider plan to reduce congestion and improve safety on Dubai’s major roads.

Traffic incidents down

Since the restriction began, traffic has improved noticeably on both Emirates Road and Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Road. Traffic incidents on these routes dropped to 37 cases in 2025, down from 75 cases in 2024.

Truck compliance with restricted hours also improved—up 7.7 per cent on Emirates Road and 5 per cent on Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Road compared with late 2024.
