NEW OWNERS OF PROPERTY ANNOUNCE DH1B PROJECT TO REVAMP THE SPACE

End of era: Sharjah's popular Safeer Mall closes its doors

The iconic Safeer Mall, once a hub for Sharjah residents, has officially closed its doors, marking the end of an era for shoppers and retailers.

The closure follows the sale of the property to Western International Group, which has announced a Dh1 billion project to revamp the space, with plans to rename it and operate it under the working name 'Mark and Save' until the renovation is complete.

While the development left shoppers with nostalgic memories and the remaining tenants uncertain about their future, the management has promised to address their concerns.

What happened

According to the previous management, the story of Safeer Mall's closure began at the end of 2024, when Al Safeer Group of Companies officially handed the building back to its landlord after 19 years of leasing it.

Once a popular destination for families, with kids' activities and an expansive food court, the mall saw a sharp decline in footfall due to traffic congestion, tolls, and the pandemic.
