ROAD UPGRADES AND FUTURISTIC MOBILITY SET TO TRANSFORM CITY TRAVEL
A Dh170 billion package of national transport and road projects to be delivered by 2030 will make travel smoother and less congested for residents commuting between the emirates.
Dubai’s roads, skies, and underground networks are set to transform how we move, making commuting faster, smarter, and surprisingly futuristic. Getting around Dubai in the coming years won't just be easier — it will redefine city travel.
Dubai Metro’s Blue Line
Scheduled to open on September 9, 2029, Dubai Metro Blue Line is a Dh56 billion project expanding the metro network to 131 km with 78 stations.
It will integrate with the Red and Green lines, connect to Dubai International Airport, and cut traffic congestion by 20 per cent. With trains every two minutes, it can carry 46,000 passengers per hour and accommodate 200,000 daily riders by 2030, rising to 320,000 by 2040.
Elon Musk’s Dubai Loop
The Dubai Loop, developed by Elon Musk’s The Boring Company is scheduled to debut in the second quarter of 2026. The Loop will run beneath Dubai, connecting key areas through a high-speed, underground network designed to be weatherproof and congestion-free.
Musk has described it as “wormhole-like travel”.
