Resort's 'eyes along the coast' celebrates its first anniversary

NATIONAL COASTWATCH INSTITUTION HAS ASSISTED IN NUMEROUS EMERGENCIES AND INCIDENTS SINCE LAUNCHING

National Coastwatch Institution (NCI) has celebrated its first anniversary.

The NCI station has become a welcomed sight on Cleethorpes front, next to the Leisure Centre, with the watch-keepers always offering a friendly smile and wave to passers-by.

Known as the ‘‘eyes along the coast’’ the NCI’s first year, officially marked on Sunday, June 21, has seen remarkable success achieved, quickly transforming from a newly-converted exhibition trailer into an award-winning pillar of the local search and rescue community.

Since opening, the team have assisted HM Coastguard in 23 emergencies and incidents, including medical emergencies and locating multiple lost children on the busy Cleethorpes beach.
