Du Toit het, met verwysing na stygende oseaan temperature, gesê die oseane het sedert die 1990's "begin kook". "Dit is die frase wat ek sal gebruik as ek oor die oseane praat. Die enorme hoeveelheid energie wat in die oseaan ingaan, is net absoluut verbysterend. Dit is 'n baie ernstige situasie, aangesien die oseane 'n dramatiese impak op die globale klimaat het," het hy gesê.
