A season of work marking the Merlin Theatre's five decades of artistic excellence is to be staged under the banner Made in Frome.

Arts season to celebrate the magic of the Merlin Theatre

Community engagement and groundbreaking performances will celebrate and champion the extraordinary abundance of professional talent based in, and being produced from within, Frome.

Since its founding, the Merlin Theatre has been a cornerstone of Frome's cultural landscape, providing a platform for professional and emerging artists alike and honours this landmark year with a special programme featuring performances from local professional companies and artists.

The programme was launched yesterday (May 7) with the first ever public film screening of Frome-based Wise Children Theatre Company's stage show, Bluebeard, a beguiling and disturbing tale from brilliant writer and director Emma Rice.

Emma, of Frome, said: “Since opening The Lucky Chance in 2023, Frome has welcomed us with open arms.

“We have loved becoming part of the community and being able to understand the hopes and needs of our neighbours. With this in mind, it is a privilege and a joy to be able to support The Merlin Theatre.
