Fresh leadership sparks hope for reviving Raj's Jal Jeevan Mission

In the current scenario, overseeing the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) and its flagship Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) ranks among the most challenging and complex responsibilities within the state government.

During the tenure of the previous Congress government, the department's operations, administrative management, performance and reputation were severely damaged. The image of Rajasthan was tarnished nationwide due to the JJM's ineffective execution.

Rajasthan ranks at 30 among countries 33 states in the performance of JJM, a centrally funded mission launched in 2019.

As of March 2025, the state has completed only 56 per cent of its target, providing 60,28,903 tap connections out of the planned 1,07,74,835.
