Convictions by ED up a tad as PMLA case count grows
February 07, 2026
|Financial Express Pune
THE CONVICTION RATE of the Directorate of Enforcement (ED), measured as a percentage of Enforcement Case Information Reports (ECIRs) registered, rose modestly in recent years, according to data presented in the Rajya Sabha.
The rate rose from just 0.1% in FY21 to 1.29% in FY26 (up to December), after peaking at 1.86% in FY24. Despite the uptick, convictions remain a small fraction of total cases initiated under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002.
