THE LATEST NIRF ‘INDIA RANKINGS 2025: MANAGEMENT’ DATA SHOWS THAT THE IIMS OF MUMBAI, BANGALORE, AND AHMEDABAD (MBA) OFFER THE BEST MBA SALARY PACKAGES TO STUDENTS

- VIKRAM CHAUDHARY

IN THE COMPETITIVE landscape of Indian management education, placement packages are the ultimate barometer of a B-school’s success.

Both students and recruiters follow these numbers, and the data submitted by India’s top B-schools for the NIRF ‘India Rankings 2025: Management’ for the 2023-24 batch throws up some interesting insights — it also shows that a top-ranked B-school might not offer the best salary, and vice versa.

The big three

Although IIM Ahmedabad has been consistently topping the NIRF rankings, when it comes to the median salary of placed graduates, it’s IIM Mumbai that is leading the charts, with a package of ₹33 lakh per annum. Founded in 1963 as the National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), and turned into IIM Mumbai in 2022-23, the B-school has a strong focus on industrial engineering, operations, and supply chain management - specialisations that are highly sought after by manufacturing, logistics, consulting, and e-commerce companies. It also has a location advantage — Mumbai, the financial and commercial capital of India, provides a massive advantage for corporate interaction, live projects, and placements.
