US agency sees India's wheat output at record 115 MT

Delhi unlikely to remove export ban, reduce import duty

INDIA IS POISED for its third consecutive record wheat harvest in the upcoming 2025-26 marketing year, with output projected at 115 million tonne (MT), driven by record planting and favourable weather conditions in major wheat-growing states, according to a report by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

This projection by the USDA closely follows the Indian agriculture ministry's estimate last month, which pegged wheat output for the 2024-25 crop year (July-June) at 115.3 MT — an increase of 2% over the previous year.
