PM says US visit to deepen ties in trade, tech

As he left for his two-nation trip to France and the US on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he looked forward to meeting his "friend" President Donald Trump, and the visit would be an opportunity to deepen India-US ties, including in trade and technology.

AS HE LEFT for his two-nation trip to France and the US on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he looked forward to meeting his "friend" President Donald Trump, and the visit would be an opportunity to deepen India-US ties, including in trade and technology.

Modi has arrived in Paris to co-chair the AI Action Summit. "I look forward to co-chairing the summit, where we will exchange views on collaborative approach to AI technology for innovation and larger public good in an inclusive, secure and trustworthy manner," Modi said in his departure statement.

India and France have cooperated on climate change issues in the past, and have launched the International Solar Alliance together. The invitation to India to co-chair the AI event signals cooperation in technology, while China and the US are locked in a strategic competition in the race for AI.
