Unemployment rate rises marginally to 4.8% in Dec

INDIA'S OVERALL UNEMPLOYMENT rate under the current weekly status (CWS) edged up marginally to 4.8% in December from 4.7% in November, according to the monthly Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) released by the government on Thursday.
The labour force participation rate (LFPR) and worker population ratio (WPR) touched their highest levels so far in FY26 at 56.1% and 53.4%, respectively.
