India, China Look to Resume Direct Flights

As the first batch of 50 pilgrims leaves on Friday for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, which has resumed after six years, India and China are looking to restart direct air services, take steps towards visa facilitation and share data on transnational rivers.
After a meeting Friday between Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong, who is visiting New Delhi, the two sides "agreed to continue efforts to stabilise and rebuild ties with a focus on people-centric engagements," according to a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
