The changing faces of the Chiefs as season finishes

O, there you have it, another Chiefs season is done and dusted.

Interestingly, on Saturday, there was a moment when Johnny Hill, Luke Cowan-Dickie and Tom O'Flaherty were on the field and it looked more like a Chiefs training game of old than a Premiership match.

Indeed, with Jacques Vermeulen en route to Sale Sharks, next year’s Chiefs v Sharks encounter could well qualify for an old players’ team reunion. It all goes to show that players come and go, but here at Exeter Chiefs the shirt, spirit and culture remains alive and well. Semper Fidelis!

Playing their last game together, our Chiefs 2024-25 squad came close against Alex Sanderson’s title chasing Sharks. The victory we had hoped for was not to be as they scored more tries but fell tantalisingly close at 26-30.

Thanks to my mate Greg Clark, I was able to take in the match among the prawn sandwich brigade, alongside my old teammate Simon Jenkins. Seeing as it was the end of the season, I made sure to enjoy the afternoon and put in a good stint at the bar!

There was also no lack of effort from our lads and spells when our stoic defence and flowing attack resembled Chiefs qualities when we won the double back in 2020. The story of a season when we came close so many times but fell just short of the expectations and potential in the club.
