Charity's rapid response team marks a year of making a 'huge difference'

Hospiscare's rapid response service, which launched in October 2024, has provided at-home support to 555 patients living with terminal illnesses across more than 1,000 square miles of central Devon.

The team, which includes a specialist palliative care paramedic, nurses and healthcare assistants, carried out more than 800 visits in its first year.

Operating weekdays from 8.30am to 7pm and weekends from 8.30am to 4.30pm, the service offers urgent palliative care to people in crisis - including fitting syringe drivers and administering emergency medication to manage symptoms such as pain and nausea.
