We feared for the worst, say family of sick Madonna

THE family of Madonna had been “preparing for the worst” after a serious bacterial infection left the singer in intensive care — but she is now expected to make a full recovery.

The illness has forced the 64-year-old star, who has sold millions of records over four decades, to postpone her world tour. She was taken to hospital after being found unconscious in New York on Saturday, with one relative saying it had been a “wake-up call” for the star, who had been pushing herself preparing for the concerts.

The family member said the “reality of the situation” was “everyone believed we may lose her”. They told MailOnline: “For the past couple of days, no one really knew which direction this was going to turn, and her family was preparing for the worst.”
