Still-hungry Hamilton hopes to sign new deal today

LEWIS HAMILTON could thrash out the final terms of his Mercedes contract today, following his and the team’s best race of 2023.
Hamilton had sounded despondent with the long-awaited upgrades to the W14 after practice on Friday, but the car catapulted Aston Martin as second best at yesterday’s Spanish Grand Prix. Hamilton finished second to runaway winner Max Verstappen, with Mercedes team-mate George Russell third.
Rumours have been circulating over Hamilton’s future in recent weeks, with Ferrari mulling over offering him a £40million switch. But the 38-year-old has made no secret of his desire to stay at a team which has given him six of his seven world titles, and he is meeting team principal Toto Wolff today to finalise terms on a new deal.
