Sam Altman to make dramatic return as boss of OpenAI after days of chaos

THE ousted boss of ChatGPT-maker OpenAI today made a dramatic return after a staff rebellion over his sacking just days ago.
In the latest twist in the boardroom saga, the tech firm said it had reached an “agreement in principle” for Sam Altman to come back and a new board formed to work alongside him.
His reinstatement comes after nearly all of OpenAI’s more than 700 staff signed a letter demanding his return and the removal of the board which ousted him.
Staff threatened to leave to join Mr Altman when he appeared to be on the verge of joining a new AI team at Microsoft following his dismissal.
His return to OpenAI completes a chaotic few days in Silicon Valley where Mr Altman will become OpenAI’s fourth chief executive in five days.
