Rolls-Royce surges amid talk of orders

ROLLS-ROYCE shares powered as much as 6% higher today as the engines giant joined mining stocks in another strong session for London's FTSE 100 index.
Stock market sentiment continues to improve as investors look to momentum from China's Covid reopening and expected policy support in the second half of the year.
The optimism has triggered a fresh wave of buying in the commodities sector as Anglo American, Rio Tinto and Glencore added another 3% in value.
BP and Shell also rose 2% after the Brent crude price moved higher on speculation that major producers Saudi Arabia and the UAE are operating close to the limits of their near-term capacity, adding to concerns about supplies in the market.
