Chaos on road and rail as city is lashed by flash flooding

LONDON was hit by flash flooding and torrential downpours today, causing chaos on a series of road and rail routes.
Sections of the M25, the A41 and A1 in north London were affected, with several Underground and railway lines part- suspended or suffering severe delays.
A driver was stranded inside his car as he drove through floodwaters on the A41 at Hendon Way, having to scramble out of his seat and on to the top of the vehicle before being forced to abandon it.
A yellow weather warning for rain was issued for an area stretching from Portsmouth to Canterbury until mid-afternoon today.
