Archer back - for school side and without approval of ECB

ENGLAND were yesterday left blindsided by Jofra Archer's surprise return to action for a school team in Barbados as the fast bowler steps up his injury recovery.
Archer (right), who is on his way back from a stress fracture of the elbow, played for Foundation, a side in the Barbados Cricket Association's second tier linked to his former school, against Lords on the opening day of a three-day game on Sunday - but did so without informing the ECB.
The quick recently signed a new twoyear central contract, meaning that
England are supposed to be in charge of managing his schedule, but director of men's cricket Rob Key admitted during a press conference yesterday that he was "not aware" of Archer's participation in the game.
