The decision by the council's planning committee to refuse the proposed “green” Al data centre was very welcome.
The data centre was proposed for the site of the ex-RBS HQ
The suggestion that infrastructure with that level of power and water demand did not need an environmental assessment was disrespectful of the democratic process. The unanimous vote by councillors to reject it upheld the democratic process. Scotland needs Al infrastructure, but only with transparency around its impact.
