'It's critical if Scotland is to hit its net zero target'

Polling for the campaign group Britain Remade found that 56 per cent of Scots thought nuclear power should be part of Scotland's clean energy mix to meet the 2045 net zero target.

Opinium surveyed 1,000 Scottish adults between April 22 and 25. It found that while 23 per cent disagreed with keeping nuclear power, 21 per cent said they did not know.

Britain Remade describes itself as a grassroots campaign for economic growth.

Founder Sam Richards said: "When it comes to safe and reliable nuclear power, the SNP is out of step with the majority of Scots.
