White stuff on way to parts of county as temperatures plummet

TEMPERATURES across Derbyshire are set to plummet over the next few days and a snow warning has also been issued for some parts of the county.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for ice and snow in the early hours of this morning through to midday in some parts of the west side of Derbyshire - although exactly where it will fall is still uncertain.

It looks more likely that snow will fall and settle in higher parts of the county from next Tuesday onwards, and the drop in temperatures has led the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) to issue an amber health alert through to January 6 at 10am.

The cold weather alert indicates that there could be a rise in deaths, particularly among those aged 65 and over or with health conditions.
