Robert’s a cut above as he is crowned with another award

TRADITION and friendly social space are two things held dear by a Derby barber who says he is “overwhelmed” after his shop was crowned as the best in Derbyshire by our readers.

It's the second time Robert Ashley Barbering has been recognised by Derby Telegraph readers as the best in the county, and it's easy to see why the Little Chester business has so much success.

Found on Mansfield Road, the shop was set up in 2017 by Robert Ashley, from Mackworth, who was able to live out his dream after invaluable support from his family.

It was voted as the best in the county back in 2023, when Robert put his success down to a strong atmosphere in the shop itself - as well as a team of staff who know their way round a head of hair.

Visitors can expect to be greeted by staff dressed in traditional barbershop fashion in a shop adorned with a stags head, vintage pictures on the wall and an arcade machine to the rear.

“There's a lot of competition in the city, and there's a lot of really talented barbers,” said Robert, 41.

“So to be recognised again is just overwhelming.
