MAN SHOULD HAVE HEEDED PARTNER'S ADVICE TO 'LEAVE IT' BUT INSTEAD LEFT VICTIM WITH A PUNCTURED LUNG
The incident took place at the Royal Oak pub in High Street, Tibshelf
A 72-YEAR-OLD pub-goer suffered three fractured ribs and a punctured lung when he was pulled to the floor during an altercation between two men.
CCTV played at Nottingham Crown Court showed the pensioner fall and hit his body against another table after his friend had been grabbed by Anthony Hurt.
Moments earlier, the 40-year-old defendant had to be dragged away from a confrontation after the man he grabbed had called his partner a derogatory name.
Handing him a two-year community order, Judge Mark Watson said: “This is a case where the consequences were grossly disproportionate to the actions.
“This was a poor decision by you and you should have heeded your partner’s advice when she was telling you to leave it.
