IT'S A DAY TO FORGET AS RAMS SECOND BEST AGAINST U'S
October 20, 2025
|Derby Telegraph
Rams head coach John Eustace called it a bad day at the office and nobody would disagree with that assessment.
-
Oxford were sharper and smarter in every department and the only positive as far as Derby were concerned was they escaped a defeat of a far greater margin.
Wasteful finishing and inspired goalkeeping ensured they didn’t take a battering in a game they could have been out of before we even reached halftime.
While one or two bad performances can be tolerated, when you start going beyond that number, that is when you have a serious problem.
Only goalkeeper Jacob Widell Zetterstrom came away with any credit, courtesy of some excellent saves, and it was undeniably the Rams’ most lacklustre performance of the season. The midfield lacked authority, the front players couldn't get into the game, and the fullbacks had a poor afternoon. Even the subs failed to make an impact.
After 10 games, nobody should be reaching for the panic buttons anytime soon. Last season taught us that momentum can change very quickly.
That said, a big response is needed tomorrow night as the Rams won't have to wait long to get this defeat out of their system when Norwich City visit Pride Park Stadium.
