HOURS OF WORK BY AN ARMY OF VOLUNTEERS TO CREATE 3,000 KNITTED POPPIES

MORE than 3,000 poppies have been hand-knitted by residents in a part of Derby for the annual acts of Remembrance.
The display in Carlisle Avenue, Littleover, was unveiled on Saturday in time for Remembrance Sunday and for Armistice Day today as residents came together to honour those who gave their lives in service to their country.
The display, created by volunteers from across the community, surrounds two silhouette soldiers in the Carlisle Avenue community garden.
The project was led by Dawn Gee, community ambassador for Carlisle Against Crime, who has worked tirelessly to bring the tribute to life.
She said: "What an amazing turnout for our Carlisle Against Crime Remembrance event this year.
