MOTORIST TRIED TO BLAME WOMAN SHE KILLED, CLAMING CAR WAS ON WRONG SIDE
A WOMAN who tried to leave the scene after causing a fatal head-on crash has been jailed.
Linda Spencer's Land Rover Freelander crossed onto the wrong side of the road on the B5023 before colliding head on with a Vauxhall Corsa.
Tracey Meek, who was driving the Corsa, died at the scene of the crash on November 26 last year. A man who was also in the vehicle with the 44-year-old at the time suffered a number of broken bones.
Immediately after the crash, which occurred between Wirksworth and Idridgehay, Spencer attempted to walk away from the scene but was seen by a number of witnesses including a passing driver who stopped her and sat her in his van until police arrived.
