CORDONED OFF: Eduardo van der Westhuizen was shot at a shop
THE community of Eureka Estate in Elsies River has been left shattered after a well-known young man was gunned down at a shop on Monday evening.
Eduardo van der Westhuizen, 22, was sent to the winkel to buy bread and electricity in Athena Road at around 7pm when unknown gunmen pulled up in a maroon Jeep.
It is reported that the gunmen got out of the vehicle and fired multiple shots at him.
When the Daily Voice reached out to the family, his mother was too heartbroken to talk, as he was her only child.
Grandmother Hazel Fortuin said the tragedy has left the family stukkend after they commemorated the death of Eduardo's father, who was also a victim of gun violence two years ago, on Sunday.
