Tafelsig family asks for help after losing everything in fire

- MARSHA DEAN

'ONS HET NIKS'

A FAMILY from Tafelsig has been left with niks after their home went up in flames on Wednesday afternoon.

Homeowner Venetia Paulse, 69, said the fire started around 1pm and she and her family of five only managed to escape with the clothes on their backs.

She explains: “I suspect the fire was caused by an electrical [issue] because we just saw the light coming from the plug in the room.

“We had a three-bedroom house and I was in my room, my son came in and said ‘mommy it is burning’ when we opened the door, we just saw smoke.
