GERMANY boss Julian Nagelsmann has blamed Liverpool's poor form and lousy finishing for Florian Wirtz's tough start to life at Anfield.

Wirtz, 22, has endured a torrid transition from the Bundesliga to the Premier League following his £116m summer switch from Bayer Leverkusen.

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville claimed he "looked like a little boy" as champions Liverpool were thumped 3-0 at the hands of Manchester City on Sunday.

But Nagelsmann, who has called up Wirtz for games against Luxembourg and Slovakia, says Liverpool must shoulder plenty of blame for the attacking midfielder's woes.
