Slower Wood can still rock Aussies

DARREN GOUGH has warned fans not to expect blistering pace from Mark Wood every time he turns up to bowl.

Wood is operating at a level where even his slower days will be quick enough to cause problems for Australian batsmen.

But the 96.5mph that he clocked in the third Test at Headingley may not appear again this week in Manchester and he won't know until on the day.

Gough, who enjoyed plenty of fast days as a bowler himself just like the England paceman did in Leeds recently, said: "The speeds from Mark Wood were just out of this world.
