SHEVCHENKO'S SOLIDARITY WITH FRANCE 10 YEARS ON

- BY NEIL MCLEMAN

ANDRIY SHEVCHENKO declared it is “important to unite against the forces of evil” as Ukraine prepare to face France on the 10th anniversary of terrorist attacks on the French capital.

On November 13, 2015, a series of shootings and suicide bombings saw 130 deaths and more than 400 people injured, including one person killed at Stade de France.

Three suicide bombers detonated their explosives when they were refused entry to the arena during France's friendly against Germany. Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attacks.

Since then, Russia has invaded Ukraine and former AC Milan and Chelsea striker Shevchenko has become the president of the Ukrainian FA.
