JANUARY: The final credits rolled on the life and career of visionary director David Lynch, who died at 78. Goodbyes were also said to RuPaul's Drag Race UK star The Vivienne (32) and Hollyoaks alum Paul Danan (46).

FEBRUARY: Oscar-winner Gene Hackman, whose credits include The French Connection and Unforgiven, was found dead aged 95 alongside wife Betsy, 65. Their bodies were discovered inside their New Mexico home.
