Surprise surge joy for Frank
May 09, 2025
|Daily Star
FRANK LAMPARD admits he didn’t expect Coventry to make the play-offs when he took over six months ago - but now they are chasing a £200m jackpot.
When the Sky Blues entertain Sunderland in the Championship play-off semi-finals tonight, they will be within touching distance of ending a 24-year absence from the Premier League.
And the former England midfielder confessed he wasn’t banking on their surge up the table.
Coventry were beaten finalists after a shoot-out against Luton two years ago, but they were only two points above the drop zone when Lampard took over from Mark Robins in November.
