Relief for Glasner as Palace finally rediscover their mojo but flapping Seagulls are in freefall

- BY NEIL MCLEMAN

ISMAILA SARR won the M23 derby to see Crystal Palace overtake Brighton and leave their bitter rivals closer to the drop zone.

The Senegal star's second-half winner ended a nightmare run of 12 games without a victory for the FA Cup holders, dating back nearly two months. And relieved manager Oliver Glasner, who revealed he had kept up squad spirits with winter BBQs, called on his club to "get addicted to winning again".

Eagles fans had feared getting sucked into the relegation battle after a winter window which saw the sale of captain Marc Guehi.

But in a battle of the debutants, where Jorgen Strand Larsen started up front, it was on-loan Aston Villa striker Evann Guessand who came off the bench to provide a rare moment of class in a poor game to set up Sarr's strike. Harry Howell became Brighton's youngest-ever Premier League starter at the age of 17 years and 294 days and he was later joined on the pitch by his cousin, Jack Hinshelwood.

Yet Fabian Hurzeler's team changes could not alter their worrying recent form and Albion have now won only one of their last 12 Premier League matches.
