IT might be over three decades since Sally Gunnell won an Olympic gold medal, but she still has the metabolic age which measures calories burned at rest of a 32-year-old!

The former track and field star, now 59, won the 400m hurdles race at the 1992 Games in Barcelona and has managed to maintain her fitness levels since retiring.

She says: “I've been pretty lucky my metabolic age is 32, which is more than 20 years younger than me!”

However, a tragedy led Sally and her husband Jonathan Bigg, an ex-800m runner, to get their own health checks - with unexpected results.

She explains: “It was a huge wake-up call when a close friend of ours, someone fit, healthy, and just 61, died suddenly of a heart attack.
