GORDON Ramsay says the misery his father put him through makes him want to be a better dad.

The TV chef had a tough childhood due to abusive alcoholic Gordon Snr and he doesn’t want to follow in his footsteps.

He said: "I had a torrid relationship with my father. I couldn’t wait to spend time out of the house away from him.

"I had to sit there at weekends and almost watch him ruin his life through alcohol.
