Cornish pasties originated as a complete, portable meal for the county's tin miners, sometimes even marked with each man's own initials.

Will calls them "Britain's original 'meal deal". Versions of pasties go back centuries across the country. Even Henry VIII was said to be a fan.

The earliest-known Cornish pasty recipe was recorded in a 1746 letter by Jane Barriball of Launceston. It included spices like mace and cloves. Today’s pasties have a simple salt and pepper mix.
