Last Brit Norrie sent packing by brilliance of King Carlos

BRITAIN’S last-man standing was taken clean out at the knees following a tennis masterclass from Carlos Alcaraz.

Cam Norrie had beaten the odds to become a surprise quarter-finalist at this year’s Wimbledon.

But beat the king of SW19? No chance.

By the time Alcaraz had finished with him on Centre Court, Norrie probably wished he hadn’t made it this far.

The £400,000 Norrie will take home to Monaco will ease the pain a little, for someone who has been in the wilderness for a while.

But no amount of cash will be able to repair the damage Alcaraz did to the ego of the British No.3.

The Spanish sensation was sublime from start to finish, cruising to a 6-2 6-3 6-3 win to seal a semifinal showdown with Taylor Fritz.

Now all we can do is wish Fritz (inset) the best of British.

Norrie is no slouch, considering he once reached world No.8, and made the semi finals here in 2022.
