JON RAHM admitted nerves got the better of him as his late collapse allowed ice-cool Scottie Scheffler to win his first US PGA Championship.

Ryder Cup star Rahm took the fight to the world No.1 on a final day at Quail Hollow that many expected to be a procession.

But, after moving level entering the last handful of holes, Rahm went five-over in the last three in a dramatic collapse.

The dreaded 'Green Mile' chewed him up and spat him back out with back-to-back double bogeys on the final two holes, seeing him slip all the way down to a tie for eighth, costing him an extra $1m in prize money in the process.
