National win tops treble for trainer

GARY MOORE celebrated “the best 40 minutes I’ve had for a long time” after clinching a remarkable treble which climaxed with victory in the Coral Welsh Grand National yesterday. 

It was already a memorable day for the Sussex trainer after Salver took out Chepstow’s Finale Hurdle and Editeur Du Gite landed the Desert Orchid Chase at Kempton to give him a Grade Two double.

Yet the best was still to come as Nassalam, the 9-2 favourite for the 3m6½f marathon, annihilated his rivals to land the £85,000 first prize on offer in Wales’ richest horse race.
