MAX READY TO SWITCH GEARS

MAX VERSTAPPEN will compete in a major race outside of Formula 1 this year as doubts mount over his long-term future.

The Dutchman (right) has signed up to drive at the Nurburgring 24 Hours in May - in a Mercedes GT car.

It does not clash with the F1 calendar and is not an indication that Verstappen is quitting Red Bull any time soon.

But it shows he's looking at what his life will be like after F1, especially as he dislikes the new generation of cars.
