People born after 1996 were also shocked you could smoke in a car with kids in it - and not wear a seatbelt.

And they were amazed when told women could not have credit cards until 1975.

Markus Lindblad, of nicotine product firm Northerner which did the poll, said: "It's not surprising that so many of the younger generation were shocked by the changes to smoking laws in the UK.
