Georgi's magic feet just waltzed past defenders

GEORGI KINKLADZE was able to leave defenders in a trance, such was the mesmeric nature of his footwork.

The little Georgian is a Manchester City cult hero and rightly remembered as one of their greatest-ever players.

Few people know the secret behind his magical feet though - dancing.

"When I was young, I was part of the Georgian dancing national team," he revealed earlier this year.

"I was good at it, but the purpose of joining was to develop myself physically for later becoming a footballer."

The best example of Kinkladze's ability to glide across a football pitch came when he scored one of the goals of the season against Southampton in March 1996.

On a Maine Road pitch that was cutting up and more suited to horse racing than football, he picked up the ball on the right wing and set off en route to goal.
