IF you see one little bird at this time of year, there are usually more close behind.

When you're not breeding and having to defend territory or grab a mate, it's much more useful to group up with other birds.

Numbers mean less food to go around, but they of course have a benefit of protection.

More eyes watching for threats to warn you earlier, more to get eaten first if you get attacked, and more warmth when snuggling up together at night. Of these birds who choose company you can expect to see familiar garden tits, so it seems like a good opportunity to talk about one of the most familiar.
