Bulldozer Zaki certainly made his presence felt

DAVE WHELAN compared Amr Zaki to the great Alan Shearer, while Steve Bruce described him as “the most unprofessional player I have ever worked with”.

That neatly summaries the Egyptian's time at Wigan, which swung viciously from the sublime to the ridiculous in the space of an eventful year.

With the Africa Cup of Nations on the horizon, it only felt right to take a look back at the impact of the man they called 'The Bulldozer'.

Zaki arrived in the North West on loan from Zamalek in 2008 and became a cult figure in no time, so much so that the club shop apparently ran out of the letter Z as it was printing so many replica shirts with his name on the back.

And it was after he scored his fourth goal in four games that Latics owner Whelan decided to liken him to Shearer, he of the 260 Premier League goals.
