It wasn't just Brit PoWs trying to get back home

ONE of the most dramatic wartime breakouts seen on British soil took place in Bridgend, South Wales.

German prisoners escaped from their PoW camp after digging a nine-metre tunnel under the fence in March 1945. The group of 70 split up and fled before the escape was even noticed.
