THERE was a prevailing feeling among the boxing fraternity recently that Anthony Joshua still owed us something.

That last month's fight with Jake Paul was beneath him, despite the mammoth prize on offer and the minuscule chance of defeat.

That despite his Olympic gold medal, his two spells as world champion, his charity work and his hand in bringing big-time boxing back to Britain, he was still in our debt.

That was not true then and it is certainly not the case now.

Anthony Joshua is lucky to be alive.

That is more than enough for us to put our foot on the brake, instead of speculating about what happens next.

But he has also lost two close friends and members of his team in Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele.
